Ron Wallace of Greene Rhode Island smashed the World Record and was the first to grow an Atlantic Giant Pumpkin over the one TON barrier. The pumpkin officially weighed in at the Tops Field Fair Weigh Off on September 28, 2012 and weighed a whopping 2009 pounds. Ron’s fruit was grown from a 1725 Harp seed, a previous world record. Ron is no stranger to surpassing bench mark, he was also the first to grow over 1500 pounds with his 1502 Wallace in 2006. Ron not only grew the top weight this year, but also grew the second heaviest at 1872 pounds, a pumpkin his Dad ’Pap’ Wallace named, “The Pleasure Dome”. Ron has always been on top of his game and always willing to help other growers grow better every year. Ron’s techniques will be a hot topic this year at the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth’s “BIG SHOW” and convention at Las Vegas Nevada, February 22nd thru the 24th. What a year Ron had with a top three of 5494.5 pounds . “Ron Wallace is back!” A new record, 2009 pounds, WOW!
